"We are excited to see how this recovery college might attract a different audience."

Recovery College - by Night!

Friday 20, January 2017

The SRC have opened recruitment to their 14th Recovery College since 2012 and their very first to take place exclusively in the evening. A 12 week course is designed to give people who are or want to be recovery activists their activist survival tool kit.

People in recovery, family members of people in recovery and citizens passionate about recovery from addiction are all invited to apply for a place on the Recovery College by night.

Sponsored by the SRC and supported by many free gifts of hand, heart and head from the recovery community, we invite anyone who fits the above criteria and can get themselves onto the course and apply.

The course content puts the recovery movement in a global context, trains participants in STEPS to Excellence, Asset Based Community Development, Recovery Community building and campaigning.

Kuladharini, Chief Executive of the Scottish Recovery Consortium said:

“ This is another prototype from the SRC and our friends, we are collectively curious to know if holding a college at night would help people with longer recovery take part in community building.  If it works, it would be a useful college model for areas of the country where a higher proportion of the would be recovery activists are in paid or voluntary employment by day.”
